O Fi balad (For there is a Country)
For there is a Country. And it grows within us, while the world is closing for us and for our dreams. We nourish hope while the desire grows ... the desire like that of a sailor to a port, for whom there is a headwind from the coast, which drives the sail away.
So he sang: remember, my distant country. I have no port with you, no daughter or son. I do have friends and songs, who know that I have sung for you with my guitar. I sang about a sky, and on my windowsill I sing about a sea and the salt that is dissolved. The sea - who feels as close as a blanket about me - is forbidden to me.
But still the country is growing within us, while the world is closing for us and for our dreams. We nourish hope while the desire grows ... the desire like that of a sailor to a port, for whom there is a headwind from the coast, so the sail is expelled.
My wings have sung that the whole world has plumbed me, but I have already issued my wings in all checkpoints. And actually I do not like traveling. I am a sailor, but there is a whole world between me and the sea, and that is why I sing for her. I sing about dreams while I am not sleeping yet. And I sing about peace, while my blood is still on the asphalt, and on the sea sand.
But still it is growing ... the country is growing within us, while the world is closing for us and for our dreams. We nourish hope while the desire grows ... the desire like that of a sailor to a port, for whom there is a headwind from the coast, which drives the sail away.
So sing…
Dus hij zong: herinner me, mijn verre land.

FRISK
FRISK
In one pocket I have a stone in the form of a map
and half dreams.
The rest of my lost hope, my worries that never go to sleep, and all my sins are laughing at me like hyenas in my face.
A bit of nostalgia from all the trips I have undertaken
The talking of the leaves and the whistling of the wind
My friends who sometimes forget me and I sometimes forget them
My family and all my neighbors, without whom life would be cold
And your hair that lies on the pillow, and the remnants of love and disappointments ...
And the taxi money is in the other pocket.
I have my identity card in one back pocket
and in the other back pocket a folded piece of paper with the first verse of a song
I smuggle an entire country in a song
The musical notes in me are the heaven of the song
and the country is the lamentation

Waiting For The Rain

|

Waiting for the rain
He is walking in the country at night, all by himself
They look at him in the city’s night
He is roaming the neighbourhood, carrying a ship on his shoulders
Banging the doors, looking for a sea, looking for a port
He is waiting for the rain ...
There is a boat that committed suicide on the asphalt
There is a sea gull, his friends gave up on him
On the barrier there is a girl, she’s inspecting herself
Waiting for the rain … where is it?
Waiting for the rain

Tatajallah (Ashira’s Song)
May you transcend in my soul
May you transcend in my sky
Transcend
Let the sun Ignite the fire within my heart
present your self in my veins in my
Transcend my lover transcend my god
I search for you in the mosques and the churches
Where are you, my God, where are you, my beloved?
Where are you?
I search for you Look for you in the graves yards between martyrs and the living
where are you from all of our grief
Where are you my god
I search for you Look for you in the graves yards between martyrs and the living
where are you from all of pain
Where are you my beloved
I search for you
May you transcend in my soul
May you transcend in my sky
Present your self in my veins , in my skin
Transcend
Let the sun Ignite the fire within my heart
Transcend my beloved transcend my god

Horses
From here all streets seem to be boundaries to me
Geography is limited to the neighborhood in which I find myself
I debate with time but time is silent.
The call to prayer and the sound of the bells is an answer from afar
They divide the days
The only truth is here, in this land of dreams
I do not have a square where I can meet you
I flee mirrors in houses and cars
Melancholic of what I know that is written in novels ...
I hide my loneliness in the crowd
I pretend to be part of them and, just like them, I lose myself with pockets in my hand
They find me in the crowd
The rhythm of horses that roam the city, like me ...
I do not have a square where I can meet you
They come when you are not there
Horses are coming, they are coming with me
Horses come and breathe on my hands
Horses
They are neighing against me
Horses, they come with me
Horses come and breathe on my hands
Horses, Horses ... and they neigh
The call to prayer and the sound of the bells is an answer from afar
They divide the days
The only truth is here, in this land of dreams
I do not have a square where I can meet you
If you are not there, horses come,
come horses,
come horses, horses, horses ....
Come horses, horses, horses ...
They are coming with me ...
Horses are coming.
Paarden
Paarden …
Ze hinniken tegen me……
komen paarden,
komen paarden, paarden, paarden….
Komen paarden, paarden, paarden…
Ze stappen met me mee …
Paarden komen.

Dawleh (A State) دولة
Dawleh (A State)
Golden, is the sun that shines on the roof of the old house
It still stands despite the bombing,
Stubbornly
I get rid of the dust and extinguish the fire
I pick up the pieces from the street and stick them on the road
I step in the direction of the beach, you can meet me there tomorrow.
They are sitting behind the wall that they built
I have been walking for a long time, yet my destination is close
I am Jesus at the checkpoint and on the cross.
it's the people, not the houses
They are the land that cannot die
The country, which lives eternally above the mountains, high
O dear country
We collect our stories on wings of butterflies
Our story survives and stays in the wilderness
Time keeps it and as pomegranate blossoms it adorns the fields
We experience our independence in every flock of pigeons that fly by
The sleepless trees are your guards, my country
And the borders of that country are dreams, blood and ink
A rooster declares it a state for us at every dawn.
it's the people, not the houses
They are the land that cannot die
The country, which lives eternally above the mountains, high
O dear country
Dawleh (Een Land)
O dierbaar land

The Sea is Late
The sea is late, they told me to wait for it here
Maybe the sea got lost ,
maybe they didn’t tell him the right road to take ,
they don’t tell there
I see it from the window in the city’s night
Walking the streets with a ship on his shoulder
he bangs the doors , asking about a sea that was here , a port
He says he is not lost, it’s us who must have forgotten
Ya Allah, ya Allah, Ya Allah
There is a fishing boat commetted suicide on the high way
A seagull betrayed and handed of to the army by his companions
At the check point there is a girl’s hear braid found
next to the old man they forced him to frisk him self
There a mare maid setting in a cafe , there , down town
She waits for no one there
She laughs and she cries and dances every now and then ,
and they all try to catch her trying to get into the glass of water in front of her
The sea is late, they told me to wait for it here
The sea is late, they told me to wait for it here
Maybe the sea got lost , maybe they didn’t tell him the right road to take ,
they don’t tell there
Ya Allah, ya Allah, ya Allah …
